animal sculptures

No camp is complete without some fun with clay.

The kids in the animal camp each created a clay sculpture of an animal of their choice.

Is Pokemon an animal? I guess so as there were two sweet creations from young artist made doing the project.

When the clay was dried, the kids painting them with acrylic paints. I had purchased some wood plaques that they also painted to mount their creations on with strong glue.

They had a ball painting the wood and spent a lot of time working on them, much more than I had anticipated.

There were some children who created imaginary animals, like this dragon, painting the castle and the enemy the dragon was fighting onto the wood.

And there were a lot of favorite animals created like these two penguins.

And an armadillo.

How great is that warm colored background? Surely lets me know this animal lives in a hot environment.

There were creatively colored turtles,

and a sweet little bird sitting in a nest.

And a lovely giraffe sitting down having a rest.

As usual, the kids throughly enjoyed creating with the clay and painting the wood plaques was an added bonus. I'm guessing with as excited as the kids were to take these home, they have all found a special place to be displayed at home.
